Sustainable energy through a Trompe, why didn't I hear of this before?

A Trompe... the concept is stuck in my mind for over a week now. A sustainable way to produce isothermal compressed air without any moving parts. It almost sounds to good to be true right? Yet it is possible!

Last week I started a Permaculture course on Udemy. I really recommend it, its taught by Bill Mollison the person who, according to himself, coined the term Permaculture. Bill is not afraid of any controversy and seems like the ideal breading round for conspiracy theories, yet somehow I love the guy.

Already in the second lecture of the course Mollison explains the concept of the Trompe (see the video underneath). It seems to good to be true, clean energy without any moving parts. The only catch...he mentions that you need a couple of miners (not the crypto, but the digging kind) to build it for you

After watching this clip I checked around on YouTube to see what I could find about this concept and it turns out to be really true. If you mix water bubbles with falling water apparently you can get between 14 to 20 PSI (0.95 to 1.4 bar) extra pressure per 33 feet (10 meter) drop. Some YouTubers build a proof of concept, yet there are bigger versions around.

The most famous is Charels Tailor's Trompe nearby Cobalt in Canada in a town called Ragged Chute. This Trompe produced an impressive geyser by the immense pressure that was build in the underground pressure chamber up till 60 years after its construction. Why is nobody talking about this form of energy and what is needed to produce this on a wider scale? I am very curious and will try to find out.
